This past weekend saw a lot of success for FC Copa Academy as our B2010 Gray won the PDA Spring Kickoff and our Millstone G2008 were Finalists in the same event, to get the Spring 2022 season off to a great start.
The B2010 Gray went undefeated throughout the weekend with 3 Wins and 1 Tie. The boys topped the group stage with 23 points after 3 matches, tying PDA Hibernian, defeating Parsippany SC and Silver Lake Academy. In the final, the Copa boys took an early 2-0 lead and held firm at the end to defeat Middletown SC 2-1.
Coach André Vieira stated, “Congratulations to the boys for their outstanding effort all weekend. Every player played a vital role in the team's success, seeing the boys come together and battle for one another was a joy to watch.”
The Millstone G2008 had a 3-0 record against PDA-South ECRL, UCFC Albion, and East Meadow SC ECRL GL. and the team accumulated 25 points in the group stage. A scoreless final resulted in PKs in which the team lost 1-2 to PDA South ECRL in the rematch.
Coach Vicente Farina stated, “They showed resilience this entire weekend, especially with a comeback win in the 2nd game scoring with 3 minutes left. The players were challenged individually to make a play and work together defensively. They gave up only 2 goals in 4 matches. I'm proud of the way they played all weekend and made no excuses while supporting each other.“
We are so proud of the effort and commitment from these two teams not only in matches but also in training and we look forward to seeing them compete each and every weekend with everything they have.
