METUCHEN, NJ - FC Copa Academy today announced the hiring of David Atkinson as Director of Programs at FC Copa Academy Brooklyn. Atkinson will oversee a number of FC Copa Academy teams as part of FC Copa Brooklyn’s anchor tenant soccer training partnership with Aviator Sports and Events Center in Brooklyn, NY.


Atkinson joins FC Copa after serving in senior positions at New York-area clubs over the past seven years. He also served as the Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach at Monroe College. Prior to moving to America in 2013, Atkinson coached youth teams while earning a bachelor's degree in Sports Development from the University of St. Mark and St. John Plymouth (Marjon). Atkinson holds a USSF C License, United Soccer Coaches Advanced National diploma and an FA Level 2 License as well as FA Youth Modules 1 & 2, United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping Level 2, Futsal Level 1 and a Youth 7v7/9v9 diploma.

Aviator Sports and Events Center, located at Floyd Bennett Field (FBF) in Brooklyn, is a premier multi-sport and recreational complex. FBF was NYC’s first municipal airport and is part of Gateway National Recreation Area.
