Coach Raphael joins FC Copa Academy as a full time staff member. Raphael brings over 2 years of coaching experience at the youth level where he worked with boys and girls of all ages and levels. Most recently, Coach Raphael has worked as part of the New York Red Bull’s training programs where he was involved in developing soccer players throughout the Tri-state area.
Raphael played four years of varsity soccer at North Plainfield High School where he was member of the group II Central State championship team in 2010. As a high school varsity player he earned all-conference, all-county and all-state awards. As a collegiate athlete he played for New Jersey City University and Rutgers-Newark University. Raphael is the first All-American in Rutgers-Newark history. Throughout his college career he earned two All-NJAC first team awards and NJAC co-Offensive player of the year. In just two seasons he set Rutgers-Newark career marks for goals (46), points per game (2.37), goals per game (1.07). Following his college career, Raphael played for Icon FC, American soccer team from New Jersey that plays in the professional American Soccer League (ASL). He currently plays for NJ Copa FC in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL).
Coach Raphael currently holds the USSF D license and the NSCAA goalkeeping level 1 diploma.
