Matthew Wilcox brings a diverse and well-rounded background in both coaching and playing to FC Copa Academy. Originally from Cary, North Carolina, Wilcox has accumulated six years of coaching experience, specializing in goalkeeper development and youth player progression.

Currently based in Mt. Olive, New Jersey, Wilcox holds a USSF Grassroots coaching license and has worked with a variety of clubs and programs across the country. His previous coaching roles include serving as a Youth Head Coach and Goalkeeper Coach with DME Sarasota, Men’s Assistant and Goalkeeper Coach at New College of Florida, and Youth Head Coach with Ramapo Valley Soccer Club. He has also contributed as a goalkeeper coach with SFL and Pathfinders FC.

Wilcox has gained valuable international experience through his time with Pathfinders FC, where he both played and coached youth goalkeepers in Spain during the spring of 2023. Additionally, during his time at New College of Florida, he played a key role in recruiting, working closely with talent from the Caribbean and South America and participating in scouting trips to Brazil.

As a player, Wilcox competed collegiately at Ramapo College of New Jersey, where he was a goalkeeper from 2019 to 2023 and a member of the 2021 NJAC Championship team. He also played at New College of Florida during the program’s inaugural season, helping the team to a 10-4-1 record. His semi-professional experience includes time with Union SC (NISA Nation) and Pathfinders FC (UPSL).

Off the field, Wilcox holds a Master’s degree in Applied Data Science from New College of Florida and a Bachelor’s degree in Data Science and Finance from Ramapo College. He has also gained experience in sport science environments, working with programs at Duke University (softball) and Rutgers University (football).
