David Atkinson
USL DIRECTOR | FC Copa Academy

A Native of Plymouth, England. Atkinson joined FC Copa after serving in senior positions at New York-area clubs over the past seven years. He also served as the Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach at Monroe College (Bronx). Now Director at FC Copa Academy Brooklyn and Head Coach of the USL Academy in NJ.
Prior to moving to America in 2013, Atkinson coached youth teams while earning a bachelor’s degree in Sports Development from the University of St. Mark and St. John Plymouth (Marjon).
A keen learner and someone who is always trying to improve his own education, Atkinson holds various coaching licenses including; his UEFA B License from Germany, he also holds his USSF B License, United Soccer Coaches Advanced National diploma, and an FA Level 2 License from England. As well as FA Youth Modules 1 & 2, United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping Level 2, Futsal Level 1 and a Youth 7v7/9v9 diploma.
Speaking in 2020 of Atkinson joining the club, FC Copa President, Founder and Executive Director of Coaching Roberto Aguas said; “We are thrilled to announce David as part of the FC Copa Family. He will play an invaluable role working with our management team to build our new offerings through our great new partnership with Aviator Sports serving players throughout the New York City Area. We are also looking forward to David leading a number of FC Copa teams on the field with his vast background in the development of players.”
