Media Relations Coordinator Internship

Term: March-August, 2021

 

Description: The New Jersey Copa FC Media Relations Internship provides college credit or community service hours opportunities to Men and Women seeking to gain valuable experience and mentorship through meaningful responsibilities in the day to day operation of the Club.  The position will give the participant an in-depth experience in; writing and distributing game summaries and previews, social media strategies, media relations and outreach strategies. FC Copa seeks applicants who bring exceptional communication skills, a positive approach to all tasks, creativity and a strong work ethic. Participants will be provided with actual sales and inventory numbers to use as benchmarks for future opportunities.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Commit to virtual meetings throughout the work week.

  • Attend all New Jersey Copa FC Home Matches at Saint Joseph High School in Metuchen, NJ scheduled in May, June, July (possibility of traveling with the team for away matches).

  • Manage the press box and lead media relations game day staff

  • Craft press releases, game summaries and previews

  • Generate player profiles, interviews and pitch stories

  • Participate in weekly post event & pre event virtual planning meetings with game day staff 

  • Collaborate with FC Copa full time staff, contribute to and execute social media strategies

  • Make social media posts in real-time on match days

  • Assist with team special events

  • Create graphic and digital content

  • Agree to FC Copa COVID precautions policies (including but not limited to wearing with a mask at events and regular testing conducted by FC Copa)

 

Commitment and Requirements:

  • Proficiency is google G-suite (gmail, docs, sheets, slides) 

  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere, iMovie and adobe photoshop is a plus

  • Understanding of Facebook Business Suite is a plus

  • Understanding of the sport of soccer is preferred but not required

  • Professionalism around players and staff

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Commitment to develop unique strategies

  • College credit available if applicable

  • Community Service Hours tracked and recognized if applicable 

  • New Jersey Copa FC match day apparel provided

  • Candidates receive on-boarding instruction, goal setting and personalized evaluation at the end of the commitment period

  • Candidates are expected to use a personal vehicle to events (other than away games).
