FC Copa Academy wrapped up their 2018 Disney Showcase season this past week after the Boys 2000/01 and 2003 National League sides went down and competed against some of the best teams in the country. On top of the great competition, the two sides were seen by a number of college coaches and secured some great results as well.
The Boys 2003 National League team went 1-1-1 in their second year at the Disney Showcase. They began with a 0-0 draw on their first day in a back and forth match where neither team was able to find a break through. The team dropped their second match but bounced back well with a 2-1 win to top off the tournament.
Coach Roberto commented on the tournament and experience for the Boys 2003 NL saying " It was a good week for the group as we faced some high level competition which pushed us to be the best in each match. We were able to take a positive step towards our goals as individuals and as a collective group. The biggest moment we will be taking away from this week was ending with a good result. We built on each match and focus on a number of team building activities helping shape our culture. The boys came together well and ended the showcase on a positive note that will translate well in the upcoming season. We continue to be proud of their development."
The Boys 2000/01 National League had a number of college coaches including in their first game where they had over 40 coaches. The team started off slow dropping their first two games in tough matches but rounded off the weekend with a 2-2 draw.
Coach Billy reflected on the week for the Boys 2000/01 NL team saying "The Disney Showcase was a fantastic event and a great experience for our players to showcase themselves in front of a wide range of college coaches. The group grew as the tournament progressed playing some high quality competition along the way. "
