What a fantastic weekend for FC Copa Academy as all five teams who attended the EDP Cup Fall 2019 placed in their respective age groups. The EDP Cup Fall 2019 is the #1 ranked tournament in the country and we were thrilled to participate in it again this year.The competition from top to bottom was excellent and continues to give our players a great experience on and off the pitch. Below we have provided the successes from all of our teams that attended the tournament this weekend:
Girls 2006 National League | Record (W/D/L): 3-1-0 | Placement: Champions
The Girls 2006 NL had a great weekend being crowned champions of the EDP Cup Fall 2019. In group play they showed well finishing on top of the group with 2 wins and a draw. They had a very entertaining final where they came back from a 1-0 scoreline to equalize in the second half. The last kick of the game was the key to the result. Off a set piece there was a one time volley to secure the win for the team! Ranking | NJ:2 | Region: 4 | Nation: 17
Boys 2007 National League | Record (W/D/L): 4-0-0 | Placement: Champions
The Boys 2007 NL wrapped up the weekend as champions of the EDP Cup Fall 2019. They were able to secure all three wins in group play to progress to the finals. In the finals the Boys 2007 NL took the lead which was then answered late in the second half. The game would go into penalties where the team would pull out the win at the end. Ranking | NJ: 6 | Region: 15 | Nation: 39
Girls 2007 National League | Record (W/D/L): 2-0-2 | Placement: Finalists
The Girls 2007 NL were brilliant this weekend with their finalists finish. They grabbed 2 wins in the group and finished on top of the standing clinching a spot in the final. In the final the team fell just short but an overall solid performance from the group.
Boys 2006 National League | Record (W/D/L): 2-0-2 | Placement: 3rd Place
The Boys 2006 NL wrapped up their weekend win a solid win in the 3rd place match. In group play the team was able to finish second over the three matches which was enough to secure the spot in the third place game. They were excellent in their play resulting in the 2-1 win.
Boys 2008 Pre-National League | Record (W/D/L): 2-1-1 | Placement: Semi-Finalists
The Boys 2008 Pre-NL were able to reach a semi-finalists placement over the weekend. A solid run in group play going unbeaten through the three teaches with two wins and a draw. They missed out on a final placement through GD and were placed in the 3rd Place match. Falling just short in that final game the team took home a semi-finalists placement.
