FC COPA Academy Girls Seal County, Sectional, and State Championships in Historic High School Season

FC Copa Academy sisters Emily and Megan Jozak, along with Kelsey Ramos led Wayne Valley High School to three different championship titles this year. A season to remember for the girls as they won the Big North Conference with a 22-3 record, while also scoring a staggering total of 87 goals as a team.

For the first time in school history, Wayne Valley Girls Soccer won the Group 3 State Championship. This was the first time in Passaic County history that a public school’s Girls Soccer Team won a Group Championship.

The second-seeded Indians took on fifth-seed West Essex in the Sectional final. Emily, who is in her senior year, scored for the Indians to take the lead. Megan added to the goals after cleaning up a rebound in front of goal to seal a 2-0 win.

All three girls had a big influence on the team, having started in every game this season. Emily and Kelsey are a part of the FC Copa Academy G04 Black under Coach Matty Berman. Emily also played for the UWS2 team this past summer and was the youngest player on the roster. Megan, who is a part of the FC Copa Academy G06 Gray team under Coach Massimo Cedraschi, played an important role in taking the girls this far.

Here is what Coach Massimo had to say about the success of the girls:

“I've been coaching these girls for years now, and I am very proud of what they achieved this year for Wayne Valley. It is great to see that all three girls were key players for their school. They represented FC Copa Academy tremendously well by setting a positive example.”

Congratulations to Emily and Megan for a remarkable season that will go down in the school’s history.
