FC COPA ACADEMY WEEKEND RECAP - WEEKEND OF 10/6 & 7

EDP CUP FALL TOURNAMENT

Boys Teams

08 Boys Pre-NL

Coach Angelo Jack

The Boys had a good showing in the EDP CUP. The results don’t reflect the way these boys played. It’s good to see that they are growing in confidence and showing great willingness to compete for every ball. They looked for each other on the field to connect the passes from the defensive side to the midfield third. We can improve in the attacking third by having more combination plays and finishing our chances. Let’s continue to grow!

07 Boys EDP

Coach Angelo Jack

The boys had great intentions to go out and compete in the FALL EDP CUP. They were over excited and eager to go out there and do great things. Now we have to work more on keeping our composure in order to play the way we want to. If we play our style of game I believe we will get the right results. Great hustle boys, unfortunately we didn’t get that little bit of luck to carry us where we needed to.

07 Boys Pre-NL

Coach Andrew Santos

The Boys 2007 Pre-NL finished the 2018 EDP Cup Fall as finalists of their bracket. The team went 2-1 in group play recording 3-0 and 4-1 wins. In the final they came up against great competition falling just short with a 3-2 result.

“A very exciting and fun weekend for the boys. It was a privilege to be a part of their success and great to see them build on each match. Falling just short in the final leaves the team hungry for the next match and we will get back on the training pitch to keep improving and growing”

06 Boys NL

Coach Billy Englishby

Some valuable lessons learned this week in how we approach tournament games and how to maximize our performance during these events. Now we get back to training continuing our development and preparing for the upcoming weekend:

05 Boys EDP

Coach Yazo

We came alive on Sunday and it was a pleasure to share all that time together. The boys came out with a winning mentality and really put on a show. Both games were extremely entertaining, would have liked to get a goal late in the games but the movie ending wasn’t meant to be. Our off the field conversations proved to be really helpful. Excited to see these boys play again next weekend. Our work continues...

05 Boys NL

Coach Raphael Araujo

Boys had a great weekend finishing the tournament in 3rd place. We ended the weekend with 3 wins and 1 loss. Boys were dominant in every game displaying attractive soccer, what we worked on this past week showed in the games as we were able create tons of opportunities and score a lot of goals. Proud of the boys for the performance they put out.

Girls Teams

08 Girls Pre-NL

Coach Alexandra Tinfow

Valiant effort from our young ladies of the club. They continue to improve week to week and this weekend showed they can compete. We will continue to work on the technical side of the ball to ensure we can battle against more physical team. The future is bright and I enjoy watching them take the field together.

07 Girls Pre-NL

Coach Steve Lengen

The girls showed commitment to applying the things worked on in training. Despite some challenging opponents the players’ showed great positivity, and ended the weekend with their best performance overall.

06 Girls NL

Coach Matty Berman

The girls 2006 NL group came out firing on all cylinders on Saturday, defeating #7 in NJ, NJ Elite, 2-0. This was the second time in two weeks that the team earned wins over this opponent, the first coming in State Cup. The girls followed up that impressive performance with a convincing 5-0 win over Vale SC (CT). Although eventually falling in the third game of the weekend, the G06 NL team finished as Semifinalists at the tournament, and currently sit at #5 in NJ.

05 Girls NL

Coach Yazo

Proud of my girls and the way we are becoming a really tight knit group. Every game has been a learning experience. This weekend we got to be the more dominant team. We aimed high and fell a bit short, however, it gives us insight on the team we want to be and the areas of the field we must capitalize in order to showcase that. Excited to get back to league play!!
