FC Copa Academy Alumna Erin Simon has signed with Racing Louisville FC of the NWSL. Simon will be playing in Louisville under the guidance of Christy Holly, a great friend of the club. Erin was a member of a very successful FC Copa Real U17 team that won a National Championship and achieved the #1 rank nationally. Erin joins Racing Louisville after spending 2019 abroad in England with West Ham United, she then earned a call up to the USWNT U23 squad and wrapped up a stellar 2020 season by lifting the NWSL Challenge Cup with the Houston Dash. Prior to beginning her professional career, Simon spent four years playing at Syracuse University and was picked up by Sky Blue FC after impressing in preseason camp.
Erin Simon appeared in 18 games during her rookie year, and started in 17 of those for Sky Blue FC. Standout performances in the NWSL attracted suitors, and Simon joined West Ham WFC where she started in 16 of the 22 games that season. Manager Matt Beard says of Erin, “Erin was such a joy to coach. That Real team that she was a big part of gave me some of my proudest memories as a coach. I wish Erin the best of luck in Houston and I know that she will be a great addition to the team,” Coach Roberto Aguas said. #TheCopaWay #WeAreCopa
