As the fall season comes to an end, Futsal season is just beginning! At FC Copa Academy, the game of Futsal is extremely important to us and our players. We believe that the sport of Futsal is a great skill developer as it demands quick reflexes, fast thinking, and pin-point passing. We are proud to be the home of one of the strongest and most historic Futsal programs in the entire country.
Andrew Santos, Director of FC Copa Futsal, is extremely excited about the increase of numbers for our Futsal Program this year. He’s done a fantastic job working all year on a curriculum for the program and is hopeful for another championship filled futsal season. Coach Andrew had this to say about this year’s Futsal Program: “The FC Copa Futsal Academy has been a very successful program over the years. Aside from the countless accomplishments we have been able to achieve, our players really benefit from playing the sport of futsal during the winter. A lot of the principles we teach in futsal translate to the outdoor game. We are grateful each year to have so much interest in the sport and look forward to another great season.
This year we will have as many as 20 teams participating in our Futsal program, up from 15 teams last year. With over 160 players participating, we are looking for this to be one of our most successful futsal seasons yet! We have teams for players as young as 8 and 9 years old, looking to be introduced to this great sport, as well as teams for our older HS aged players to our Mens and Womens teams. Some of our players have been a part of the futsal program since they started playing at FC Copa and have been very successful in the past.
Last year, FC Copa Academy had 3 Futsal State Cup Champions; our Boys 02, Girls 03, and Girls 06! They look to come back this year and repeat as State Cup Champs. Our Boys 03 Black team were finalists in the State Cup and in the Futsal Regionals, therefore they are looking to improve and win both competitions this year. The Girls 05 team are also looking for another strong performance indoors this year, after finishing as Finalists in the State Cup. Two teams that are looking to make the finals this year after being Semi-Finalists in the State Cup last year are the Boys 05 and the Boys 03 Red.
Good luck to all our player and teams this year!
