This coming weekend, March 16-18, we will see 5 of our girl's teams represent FC Copa Academy at the Jefferson Cup Girls Weekend. This year at the competition, we will have the G07 Black competing along with three other FC Copa Academy teams, G06 Black, G06 Black South, G05 Black and G04 Black.
“We are very pleased to see our girls play at the Jefferson Cup this weekend,” said Executive Director of Coaching Roberto Aguas. “This is one of the most prestigious tournaments in the country and our teams have been working hard and they are looking forward to bringing their best game to the tournament.”
“This weekend is a great first introduction to the professionalism of FC Copa Academy and it’s the first time that the G06 Black will be spending time for a tournament together,” said Coach Matty Berman. “Having just taken over G04 also, it is clear that they will go down to Virginia and play with incredible passion. The roster is full of talented players and I know that they are excited to showcase their skills in a prestigious tournament, such as the Jefferson Cup”
Coach Justin Abbey will lead our G06 Black South team this weekend and shares the following, "The girls have been working very hard the past few months and are excited to put it all into play this upcoming weekend. This team has progressed technically in such a way that their confidence on the ball is exciting to watch. We look forward to representing our club and all the teams in our south program in the highest way possible."
“The G05 Black have been training extremely hard and are well prepared for the Jefferson Cup,” said Coach Andrew Giallombardo. “It will be a great measuring stick to see the team’s progress over the last year and we are excited to come to an event of this magnitude with only a few weeks until we open our EDP league season.”
“The G07 Black have been looking forward to attending the Jefferson Cup for the first time,” commented Coach John Sherwin. “We have been working really hard to prepare ourselves for this and we’re looking forward to having a good showing to represent the club this year.”
FC Copa Academy wishes all five teams competing, the very best of luck this weekend at The Jefferson Cup!
