MANHATTAN KOC – G00/99 & G01 BLACK CHAMP, G03 BLACK FINALISTS

This past weekend, March 2nd - March 4th, eight different FC Copa Academy teams represented the academy at the Manhattan Kick Off Classic Driven by Yokohama. The U19 G00/99 Black finished as Champions of the tournament alongside the U17 G01 Black, while the U15 G03 Black walked away from the tournament as Finalists.

The U19 G00/99 Black scored a win right off the get go where they won 5-1 up against New York SC. They then headed up against East ISLIP SC Red Storm, where they won by a closer score of 3-2.

“It’s been a great weekend for our team,” exclaimed Executive Director of Coaching, Roberto Aguas. “It was good to get some good competition before the Jefferson Cup and we are very happy with the way they came together and played this weekend.”

Next up the U17 G01 Black also walked away as Champions of the tournament by winning 2-0 against Manhattan SC Pride after tying the day before against SAC Premier Blue.

“I was very pleased with the way the girls played this weekend,” stated Coach Andrew Giallombardo. “Given that it was the first tournament leading to the Spring season, we knew in the back of our minds that we weren’t going to be as fit as we could be but there was no denying the team chemistry and fighting spirit that enabled us to perform well.”

Lastly, the U15 G03 Black finished as Finalists of the tournament winning against TSF Academy 2003G before tying another game and eventually winning a third in the first outdoor competition of the Spring.

“We saw our teams playing well against some of the best teams in the region,” said Coach Aguas. “Despite being a little bit rusty our team was able to pull through and play as a team and it showed.”

FC Copa Academy congratulates all eight competing teams from the Manhattan Kick Off Classic Driven by Yokohama this weekend, especially the U19 G00/99 Black, U17 G01 Black, and U15 G03 Black on their finish as Champions and Finalists respectively.
