NEW JERSEY COPA FC ANNOUNCES SPRING 2018 TRYOUTS


METUCHEN, NJ - The semi-professional soccer franchise New Jersey Copa FC has announced that it will hold Spring 2018 Tryouts in May at Rutgers University Park.


Tryout Dates: 5/8, 5/10, 5/15, 5/17

Time: 9:00 PM - 10:30 PM

“Going into our third year of existence, the expectations are higher than ever,” explained Head Coach Roberto Aguas. “We’ve achieved an impressive number of successes on both the Men’s & Women’s side, with finishes as 2016 UWS National Finalists, 2016 NPSL Regional Finalists, and 2017 UWS & NPSL Regular Season and Conference Champions. We have all the building blocks in place to have another fantastic year, and we can’t wait to get started.”


In the 2017 offseason on both the Men’s & the Women’s side, New Jersey Copa FC & the Elite Collegiate Program has seen two players earn prestigious All-American Honors - Jeanine Nunez playing for Adelphi University, and Achim Younker playing for Johns Hopkins University. Countless more have made huge impacts for their collegiate teams, such as Mike Prosuk at Ohio State, Sydney Cummings at Brown University, Modou Sowe at Rowan University, Katrina Nyugen-DeMary and Jenny Callaghan at NJIT, Jonathan Firmino at Georgian Court, Andrea Leitner at UAlbany, Alexis Williams at George Washington and Christina Rodgers at Providence.


In addition to the accolades from the collegiate players, six more members of NJCFC who have already graduated signed professional contracts in the off-season: 2016 UWS Player of the Year Krystyna Freda to Barcelona FA in Cyprus, Jenny Bitzer to Durham FC in England, Kristen Shea and Rebecca Raber to FF Lugano in Switzerland, Phoenetia Browne to UMF Sindri in Iceland (where she was joined by Bitzer for five weeks leading up to Durham’s season) and Matt Perrella to the USL-side Pittsburgh Riverhounds.

ABOUT NJCFC


In their first season in the NPSL, New Jersey Copa FC Men finished with an 8-5-2 record in the Summer of 2016. Following their successes, they qualified for the playoffs, and advanced to be one of the final eight teams out of 85 total teams throughout the NPSL league in the National Championship Tournament.


New Jersey Copa FC Women had a storybook run in their first season competing in the UWS, where they were 2016 UWS Eastern Conference Champions. They eventually lost in the final minutes of overtime to Santa Clarita, the UWS Western Champions, in the inaugural National Final.
