NJ COPA FC MEN LOOK TO TAKE DOWN RIVALS ELECTRIC CITY SHOCK

METUCHEN, NJ - After their home opener was postponed, the NJ COPA FC Men’s team is amped up and eager to hit the pitch to start their season. On Saturday May 19th the Men will be traveling up to Southside Athletic Complex in Scranton PA to take on one of their league rivals, Electric City Shock at 6:30pm. These two teams have a storied past and always come to play when they face each other. We’re excited to see yet another intense matchup between the two clubs.

Last season NJ COPA FC was the dominate club, defeating Electric City Shock all three times they clashed. In league play last season NJ COPA FC came away with a hard fought 2-1 victory. Tensions were high as the teams came to play each other later on in the season but NJ COPA FC was in form and took Electric City down with a commanding 1-0 win. The final time these two rivals would meet in the 2016-2017 season would be in the conference semifinals. Both sides were fighting hard to get to the finals and the score was tied at 1-1 at the end of regulation. In a thrilling overtime victory, NJ COPA FC was able to find a way to once again defeat their rivals and continue on to the finals.

NJ COPA FC’s Head Coach Roberto Aguas knows that Electric City will be working twice as hard as they were last year to beat NJ COPA FC this time around. When asked about the upcoming match he said, “Electric City is a quality side that has given us trouble in the past and we know they’ll be coming for us. It is our job to prepare as we usually do, get focused up, and then execute come Saturday. These three points are crucial in order for us to get the season off on the right foot.” Saturday is shaping up to be a great match and we’re looking forward to seeing NJ COPA FC come away with the win.
