New Jersey Copa FC will face off against Coppermine United on the road for their season opener this Saturday night.

Both teams are opening their season and looking to start off strong. This is the first time New Jersey Copa FC plays against Coppermine United this year before traveling back to Baltimore to face off again on June 11, 2022.

Last year, New Jersey Copa FC started their season off against the Rochester Lancers where they won 1-0. The team is looking to begin the year off strong, once again. New Jersey Copa FC UWS head coach, Massimo Cedraschi said, “We are expecting a fantastic season. The team is going to have a great performance, and we’re looking to make the playoffs this season.”

New Jersey Copa FC will look to build upon last year, as they ended the year just short of making the playoffs with a 4 - 2 - 4 record. When asked his expectations for the UWS team this year, Sporting Director Roberto Aguas said “As it is every year, we look to field a strong team of top collegiate and post-collegiate women. From our first year’s national final run, we continue to be focused on the progression and opportunity of women in the sport of soccer.”

New Jersey Copa FC gets to welcome back NWSL Draftee, and FC Copa Academy alum, Sydney Cummings this season. Sydney was selected by Racing Louisville as the 42nd pick this past December. As well as Sydney, the team is welcoming back, Isabella Castagnetti (GK, Holy Cross), Kelly Severini (D, Michigan State), Samantha Sturno (D, Marist College), Camille Bowen (D, Marist College), Jordyn Allen (D, University of Rhode Island), Farrell Pomponio (M, Georgian Court University), Caroline Caputo (M, NJIT), Danielle Etienne (M, Fordham University), Dana Costello (F, Monmouth University), and Emily Jozak (F, University at Albany). They are also welcoming back Jeanine Nunez (F, Adelphi University) from past seasons.
