New Jersey Copa FC vs Cedar Stars Rush

It is back on the road again for New Jersey Copa FC as they face off against Cedar Stars Rush this Wednesday evening.

The game will be the second match of the season for both teams. This is the first time that New Jersey Copa FC takes on Cedar Stars Rush this season. They will match up again when New Jersey Copa FC hosts them only a week later on June 1, 2022.

The season opener on May 21, 2022 did not land in favor of New Jersey Copa FC. The USL2 team traveled to Newburgh, NY to play against the Hudson Valley Hammers where they finished with a score of 1 - 4. The goal scored by New Jersey Copa FC was recorded in the 84th minute by Gabriel Addo. Despite losing this game, the team has not hung their heads and are ready for their next match. Head coach Fernando Barboto said, “We defended poorly in transition, despite creating many point blank opportunities to score within the first fifteen minutes of the game, and throughout. We will have to improve on both sides of the ball this week.”

Cedar Stars Rush opened their season against FC Motown STA on May 22, 2022. The match finished with a tie of 1-1.

Last season, New Jersey Copa FC went 0 - 1 - 1 against Cedar Stars Rush. This season, the team is looking to get a win against their geographical rivals. Roberto Aguas, sporting director of New Jersey Copa FC, said, “The team may not have started this season the way one would hope, however there is no concern that the team will not have a great season. The team is extremely talented and the men have the best mindset you could want for a team of this level.”

New Jersey Copa FC plays their next game against Cedar Stars Rush in their home opener on Wednesday, June 1, 2022. The game will take place at St. Joseph High School at 5:00pm. Admission to the home game is free for all FC Copa Academy players and families. To purchase tickets click here.
