ROBERTO AGUAS

Coach Roberto Aguas is the President, Founder, and Executive Director of Coaching of FC Copa Academy. Coach Roberto has coached SIX FC Copa Academy teams to the #1 Ranking in the Country (via GotSoccer).

 

He has developed and mentored a large number of 325 players who are now playing collegiate or professionally around the world from FC Copa Academy. Most recently Coach Roberto lead the FC Copa 00s to the NPL National Championship in 2017, his second National Championship having lead the FC Copa Academy Real U17G to the 2012 US Club National Championship in Chicago.

Coach Roberto is responsible for the creation and consistent implementation of the club’s culture and curriculum, and is active in the oversight of training and development of all coaches and players with the focus on preparing the young men and women to play soccer at the collegiate level. Coach Roberto, along with his staff, leads the process of college recruitment and placement for our players.

Coach Roberto has lead six teams to the #1 ranking in the US and New Jersey. In 2017 Coach Roberto lead a second team to a national title, the U17G FC Copa Academy Milan (G00 Black) battled through a tough NPL competitive season to qualify for the national championship which they won after a grueling bracket and championship game.

 

In 2012 Coach Roberto lead the historic FC Copa Academy Real U17G to the first National Title for FC Copa Academy when they won the US Club National Championship in Chicago. In 2013 he lead the FC Copa Academy Milan U14G to the NJ State Championship and the FC Copa Academy Real U18G to the NJ State Finals. That same year, 2013, he lead the FC Copa Academy Juniors U16B to the US Club National Finals.

 

In 2011, he lead the FC Copa Academy Forza U18B to dual Championships at the NJYS State Cup and US Club State Cup. That same team was also the 2008 finalist at both the US Club Regionals and US Club Nationals. Coach Roberto has also taken the U16 Girls Celeste at the time to an 2015 NPL National Finals.

Coach Roberto has personally coached over 80 players and had oversight of 350+ players at FC Copa Academy who have gone on to play collegiate soccer for schools such as Princeton, Brown, Rutgers, Louisville, West Point, Marist, Syracuse, George Washington, Northeastern, McGill (Canada), Navy, and Lehigh to name a few.

 

He has also coached and mentored FC Copa Academy players who have gone on to the professional ranks or have been called up to youth national teams in the US, England, Portugal, Iceland, Russia, Ecuador, Honduras, Philippines, Dominican Republic, St. Kitts and Nevis. Coach Roberto has coached at many different youth levels in three continents for over 20 years.

 

Coach Roberto exerts a high emphasis on maintaining a relationship with all FC Copa Academy players after they graduate. He works closely with alumni to continue their personal development as well as exposure to other aspects of their soccer career and business development.

Coach Roberto is a founding board member of EDP (Eastern Development Program) and is an active lecturer in coaching philosophy in North and South America as well as Europe, with an emphasis on teaching systems and styles of play. Coach Roberto currently serves on the US Youth Soccer National League EDP Conferences Founding Member Committee and the Leadership Council which provides feedback and strategic guidance in order to set the trajectory for this platform.

Coach Roberto is also a very successful business entrepreneur, having been an executive member of the management team of two companies he lead to an initial public offering (IPO) in 1996, Seer Technologies (an IBM Company) and in 2000, Serviceware both in the technology sector. He currently leads a portfolio of companies via his investment firms, Copa Holdings (US) and Andes Ventures (Latin America), and is an investor, advisor, mentor and board member of a number of privately owned startups he has helped found and fund. Coach Roberto holds a USSF National License and is a member of the NSCAA.
