FC Copa was thrilled to continue its regular Copa Virtually Presents for our players, providing exclusive access events to individuals that have made significant advancements in the game. Our academy players were treated to a very special guest in Nyree Dardarian. Nyree is the Sports Nutritionist for the Philadelphia Union, Philadelphia Flyers, USA Field Hockey, USA Squash, and has served as the sports nutritionist for Team USA at the World University Games in Gwangju in 2015, Taipei in 2017 and the 2019 Pan American Games.
Nyree is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor and Director of the Center for Nutrition & Performance (CNP) in the Department of Nutrition Sciences at Drexel University. While speaking to our academy players, Nyree highlighted the importance that nutrition has on overall athletic performance, while also touching upon how hydrating in the days prior to games and tournaments is a crucial component to ensuring that they are properly hydrated on game day.
“We want to thank Nyree and her team for taking the time to talk to our entire Academy about the importance of Nutrition and fueling for performance,” said FC Copa Technical Director Billy Englishby. “My experience with Nyree has always been first class, and her ability to provide valuable insight to the athlete in improving performance has always been at the forefront of everything she does.” “Having somebody working hands-on in our field with the Philadelphia Union and Drexel Soccer, as well as so many other sports franchises & programs, was of considerable value to our players and families.”
Nyree fielded questions from our FC Copa Academy players that touched upon the best meals to have prior to, during, and after tournaments to improve recovery. Our players were also given an in-depth timeline that will help them plan pregame meals that will boost their overall performance.
