METUCHEN, NJ - FC Copa Academy has announced the hiring of Mary Hearin as a Technical Staff Coach at FC Copa Academy.

Hearin will take on additional coaching duties under the FC Copa organization after leading the New Jersey Copa FC UWS2 team this past summer. In the inaugural UWS2 season, Coach Hearin guided her team to a perfect 6-0 record. Coach Hearin’s mentorship prepared a number of her players for the move to UWS play, and she was named Northeast Conference Coach of the Year.

Hearin also serves as Women’s Assistant Coach at New Jersey Institute of Technology, where she has coached since 2016. A native of North Potomac, Maryland, Hearin graduated magna cum laude from University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). Hearin is a former player and assistant coach at UMBC where she was tri-captain for three seasons, earned America East Conference all-conference second team and America East all-rookie and all-tournament team honors.

“FC Copa is a club that takes a tremendous amount of pride in helping its players find success and reach their potential both on and off the field,” said Hearin. “The club’s focus on developing well-rounded people and helping the players achieve their goals aligns with why I love coaching, and I'm excited to start working with our players.”

“We are thrilled to expand Mary Hearin’s role at FC Copa,” said FC Copa Founder and President Roberto Aguas. “Mary oversaw a truly amazing UWS2 season this past summer, and she will now play an invaluable role contributing to our girls program as well.”
