FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NEW JERSEY COPA FC MEN AND WOMEN LOOKING TO IMPROVE OFF STELLAR SEASONS
METUCHEN, NJ - With the 2018 season approaching both Men’s and Women’s sides are looking forward to taking the NPSL AND USW by storm once again. Both sides had incredible seasons and will be looking forward to improving upon their successes in the season to come.
The Women will be defending their home turf as they take on the Long Island Rough Riders at 4:30pm on Saturday at St. John Vianney High School. The Men will also start their campaign Saturday at home as they take on Atlantic City FC at 7:00pm. New Jersey Copa FC, will be playing out of Saint John Vianney High School for the Men’s and Women’s season openers. Due to a field availability issue the remainder of all NJ COPA FC home games will be played at Mercer County Community College. NJCFC is scheduled for five regular season home games, as well as five away games.
“I think this will be a excellent opportunity for both teams to maximize their potential and continue to build the momentum that they developed last season,” said Head Coach Roberto Aguas. “Both the Men and the Women will be facing top notch opponents, in Long Island Rough Riders and Atlantic City. The players are eager to get out on the field this Saturday and make a statement about who they want to be in this league.”
The Men posted a dominate season last year with a record of 8-2-2 and placed top of the conference leading into the playoffs. The Men looked in form as they took down Electric City FC in a thrilling conference semi final in which they won 2-1 in overtime. Unfortunately, the Men fell to Clarkstown in a 3-1 loss in the Eastern Conference Finals. Despite the tough loss in the conference finals the Men showed they had the talent to propel them to great heights in the NPSL, and showcased their potential to make an even deeper run in 2018. Despite having only a few returning starters the Men have a new group of very talented and experienced players from around the league joining the club. With this new look NJCFC side the Men are looking to build and improve upon the success of last season.
In their Home Opener on May 13th, 2017, the NJCFC Women dominated the Rochester Lancers with a commanding 6-0 win. This set the precedent for how the Women were going to attack the season. They continued their winning ways over the course of the 2017 season and ended league play with a record of 8-2-1 going into the playoffs. The Women faced league rivals and 2018 home opener Long Island Rough Riders in the Eastern Conference Finals where their campaign ended with a heartbreaking loss. This has only been a motivator for the Women as they gear up start the 2018 campaign and make a run for the conference title as they did in their inaugural season back in 2016.
