UWS TEAM OFF TO A FLYING START!

Five games into the 2024 UWS season, coached by Erin Sullivan, our team has started strong with 4 wins, 0 draws, and 1 loss, positioning them well for the postseason. We began with two impressive wins, scoring 5 goals in each game, showcasing their offensive strength and vigor. The team, composed of numerous FC Copa Academy players and anchored by a core of seasoned college athletes, has established itself as a formidable force in the league and is now on the brink of securing a spot in the postseason.
Coach Sullivan's leadership has been key in refining our tactics and building team unity. Players have developed a better understanding of each other's strengths, which has improved our chemistry on the field.
Head Coach Erin Sullivan's thoughts:
"This season has been a great one so far. We have had a lot of success in our matches, which I think is due to having a talented group of quality players coupled with intense, competitive training sessions where we have improved considerably as team.
We have continued to get better from game to game as we have developed different tactics, established our team’s identity and the way we want to play, and built chemistry as a team. These facets were not fully there in the first week of the season, since we didn’t have many practices to solidify them before our first match.
As a coach, and also I think in speaking for the players, we now know each other much better than the first game of the season. Most of us have learned each person’s strengths, skills, and capabilities— which has been massive in how we are able to highlight those in our play. I think the chemistry and momentum we have at this point is a testament to that.
We have a solid group of players who have been hardworking, adaptable and are now playing great team soccer which has been really exciting to see. I am looking forward to what’s to come in the final half of the season and hope we can continue to excel in each game."

We are excited to see our continued progress and competitiveness in the league.
