JOIN US IN THE FIGHT AGAINST BREAST CANCER

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is an annual campaign to increase awareness of this disease. Breast cancer affects 1 in 8 women during their lives, and many of us at here at FC Copa Academy know someone — a mother, a wife, a sister, a cousin, a friend — who has been impacted by this disease.  Thanks to screening, breast cancer often can be found early, when the chance of successful treatment is best.

FC Copa Academy would like to do our part to make a difference as we support this effort, and help spread the message to increase the awareness of the importance of early detection and encourage communities, organizations, families, and individuals to get involved and make sure groundbreaking breast cancer research remains a priority.

During Breast Cancer Awareness month, the color pink is vibrantly displayed to show support for the cause. Pink is seen everywhere during the month of October in support of Breast Cancer Awareness, and FC Copa Academy has a proud long standing tradition to be a part of spreading the awareness by distributing to each player a black wristband with a pink ribbon.

As in past years, every player U9 - U14 will be asked to wear the band on your right wrist during the month of October at all games and practices. These wrist bands are our first step in donating to the awareness during this month and they will be distributed at training the training sessions today, Friday.

In addition to the wristbands, FC Copa Academy will be making a donation to the The Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Inc. and we kindly ask you to join us in donating to this important cause. Please click here to make a direct donation: http://www.info-komen.org/goto/fccopa

This is an incredible organization fighting Breast Cancer on multiple fronts:

In 1980, Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan, that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became the Susan G. Komen organization and the beginning of a global movement. What was started with $200 and a shoebox full of potential donor names has now grown into the world’s largest nonprofit source of funding for the fight against breast cancer. To date, we’ve invested more than $2.9 billion in groundbreaking research, community health outreach, advocacy and programs in more than 60 countries. Our efforts helped reduce deaths from breast cancer by 38 percent between 1989-2014 and we won’t stop until our promise is fulfilled.

HOW WE'RE HELPING

Susan G. Komen is the ONLY organization that addresses breast cancer on multiple fronts such as research, community health, global outreach and public policy initiatives in order to make the biggest impact against this disease.

Together, as a united FC Copa Academy Family, let's continue to raise awareness and do our part in the fight against Breast Cancer. We look forward to seeing all of our players supporting this important cause throughout the month of October AND we thank you in advance for any and all donations. There are no donations too small or too large!
